Sobre la base de las deliberaciones mantenidas durante la primera reunión del Diálogo Internacional sobre la Migración 2018, que tuvo lugar en Nueva York los días 26 y 27 de marzo (Asociaciones inclusivas e innovadoras para una gobernanza eficaz de la migración a escala mundial), en la segunda reunión se propone profundizar en el tema general de las asociaciones y la cooperación, centrándose específicamente en el fomento de la capacidad para encarar los retos actuales con miras a una gobernanza eficaz de la migración.
La concepción y facilitación de oportunidades de fomento de la capacidad requiere la participación de un amplio abanico de interlocutores –incluidos los gobiernos y las autoridades locales, y las organizaciones internacionales y regionales– así como la elaboración de diferentes actividades, centradas en distintos niveles y esferas de acción. En esta reunión, que servirá de plataforma para el intercambio de experiencias entre un amplio abanico de interlocutores, se presentarán ejemplos de herramientas y alianzas para el fomento de capacidades.
La reunión del Diálogo Internacional sobre la Migración que tendrá lugar en octubre, esto es, entre el final de las negociaciones del Pacto Mundial sobre Migración en julio y su adopción en diciembre, brindará una oportunidad para evaluar las mejores prácticas de los enfoques integrales de coordinación del gobierno, la sociedad y el sistema de las Naciones Unidas para apoyar la gobernanza de la migración.
