S’appuyant sur les discussions menées lors de la première session de l’IDM 2018, tenue à New York les 26 et 27 mars (Des partenariats novateurs et ouverts à tous pour une bonne gouvernance mondiale des migrations), la seconde session entend approfondir la question générale des partenariats et de la coopération sous l’angle du renforcement des capacités en vue de relever les défis actuels que pose une bonne gouvernance des migrations
L’élaboration et la mise en œuvre de mesures de développement des capacités nécessitent la participation d’un large éventail d’acteurs – y compris les gouvernements, les autorités locales et les organisations internationales et régionales – et exigent de formuler diverses activités à différents niveaux et dans différents domaines d’action. Cette session permettra de présenter des exemples d’instruments et de partenariats visant à renforcer les capacités, et offrira la possibilité à un large éventail de parties prenantes de mettre en commun leurs expériences.
Entre la fin des négociations du pacte en juillet, et l’adoption de ce dernier en décembre, cette session de l’IDM sera l’occasion pour les participants d’évaluer des pratiques exemplaires de coordination fondées sur des approches associant l’ensemble des pouvoirs publics, l’ensemble de la société et l’ensemble du système des Nations Unies en vue d’appuyer la gouvernance des migrations.
