This project supports the Government of Lesotho’s efforts to provide climate adaptive solutions through the development of a national migration, environment and climate change (MECC) strategy, while also piloting an innovative green economy programme among vulnerable communities in five target areas. In addition to supporting the Government of Lesotho’s efforts to develop a national MECC Strategy and Action Plan, this funding will work with recycling cooperatives and district level government stakeholders to provide training on climate resilient practices, particularly waste separation. The aim of the training is to equip these groups to then build awareness and mobilize community members to adopt climate resilient practices at the household level. The approach also contributes to sustainable livelihood opportunities for recycling cooperative members, who will have greater access to waste materials through the adoption of waste separation practices by the community. In this way, the effort will support their green businesses, while also engaging communities in climate resilient practices.
