The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed gaps in national and local capacity at borders and in communities for communicable disease control, and suggests the need for multisectoral public health responses with a mobility-centred lens. This project will contribute to the prevention and mitigation of disease transmission by strengthening the capacity of front-line responders and communities along the mobility continuum. IOM will develop a toolbox with training materials along with tools to ensure risk communication messages are culturally and linguistically tailored and migrants are included in outreach campaigns. This toolbox will be used to train front-line responders to effectively prevent, detect and respond to communicable diseases, and will guide front-line officials and communities to engage in effective risk communication and community engagement to increase community knowledge, ownership and preventative behaviours, and therefore reduce vulnerability to disease. The toolbox will be available in English, Spanish and French, and piloted in Burkina Faso, Guatemala, Mali and Mexico.
