This project aims at strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management in Nepal in order to improve labour migration management. The project proposes four specific components to achieve the overall objective of the project: needs assessment; enhancing capacity of the relevant government officials through training, exposure visits and equipment support; enhancing understanding of migration dynamics through research; and formulation of a plan of action to assist in migration management. The following will take place:
• Needs for labour migration management capacity enhancement initiatives of the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management assessed and identified based on wide scale consultation and updated situation report.
• Government officials trained on various labour migration management training programmes.
• Government officials given first hand experience regarding labour migration management and opportunity to learn from good practices in place in Bangladesh.
• Group of trainers developed to work as resource pool for further capacity enhancement training and initiatives.
• Capacity of the Ministry of Labour and Transport Management further enhanced through equipment support.
• Research undertaken for further understanding on labour migration in Nepal.
• Plan of action for labour migration developed in a consultative process to coordinate labour migration management in Nepal.
