Benefiting Member States
Niger
The project aims to tackle the lack of opportunities for youth in Niger and provide alternatives to irregular migration in order to address the interconnected issues mentioned above. The project aims to achieve this objective through private recruitment agencies and the government; particularly the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment (ANPE), which will provide job counselling services to Nigerian youth seeking employment. The project will also address the issue of higher unemployment rates for women in Niger and lower rates of use of ANPE services by women, by conducting gender-sensitive capacity-building workshops and increasing ANPE’s visibility among women in Niger. Equipment will be provided and training for selected ANPE officials will be conducted. The project will also assist with the roll-out of a gender-sensitive communication campaign. Finally, an analysis of the private sector labour demand in Niger will be carried out in coordination with the ANPE and the private sector recruitment agencies.
