The Government of India (GoI) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) are invested in strengthening the availability of comprehensive labour migration data to facilitate gainful labour migration for aspiring migrants and support national socioeconomic recovery. The project's objective is to contribute to improving access to labour migration opportunities for aspiring Indian migrants through strengthened migration management frameworks. The project will conduct a thorough needs assessment of existing data gaps and needs, develop and equip the MEA with a comprehensive migration data management strategy, and pilot communication materials and surveys to inform migrant workers on the benefits of submitting data voluntarily. The project will also conduct and equip the MEA with research on post-COVID-19 emerging labour markets in Northern and Eastern Europe and the elderly care-giving sector, and facilitate bilateral migration dialogues and sector-specific consultations with key stakeholders.
