Benefiting Member States
Bolivia (Plurinational State of)
Bolivia is experiencing high levels of migration and internal displacement affecting the demographic, economic, social and cultural dynamics in both origin and destination communities. The complex nature of the migration flows and the different groups involved is resulting in challenges related to the development and implementation of policies that foster the inclusion of migrants and displaced persons, promote social cohesion and facilitate their contributions to sustainable development within the “Living Well” framework. “Living Well” is a philosophy promoted by the Government of the Plurinational State of Bolivia (enshrined in the constitution) to live with equality, justice, complementarity and with a fair resource distributi¬on, while defending nature and protecting the planet. For the government, it is a priority to base its policies and programmes on the “Living Well” framework. In fact, this model is the basis of the Economic and Social Development Plan 2021 – 2025, and therefore framing the project within the “Living Well” framework is essential and will promote the sustainability of the intervention.
In this context, and in close coordination with the Vice Presidency of the Plurinational State of Bolivia (through the General Directorate of Geopolitics of Living Well and Foreign Policy), this project will contribute to migrants, displaced persons and communities in Cobija, Teoponte and Cachuela Esperanza living in more inclusive multicultural territories and contributing to sustainable development, in alignment with the “Living Well” framework. To achieve this objective, roundtables and case studies will be conducted with the participation of national and local authorities and representatives from different key community groups. Furthermore, training will be provided on the existing biocultural assets, migration flows and challenges and opportunities for social cohesion. Additionally, workshops will be organised in close coordination with municipal authorities for community members, migrants and displaced persons to contribute inputs to the framework. As a result, local governments and the communities from Cobija, Teoponte and Cachuela Esperanza will be able to promote the inclusion of migrants and displaced persons in community affairs and enhance social cohesion between the various rural and urban groups, as well as indigenous peoples, in alignment with the framework of “Living Well”.
