Over recent years, Ghana has produced several policies and data on the effects of climate change in general, but those data and policies have yet to address the links between climate change and human mobility. This project, proposed in parallel with a similar project in RO Nairobi, has the objective of contributing to strengthening the capacities of cities to manage human mobility in the context of climate change in West Africa. The objective of the project is to develop the capacities of the Government of Ghana to better manage human mobility in the context of adverse climate impacts. The project will also stimulate African decentralized cooperation in mobilizing several cities over capacity strengthening, the elaboration of joint tools and best practices sharing. Concretely, the project will allow the development of one territorial diagnosis looking at interlinkages of human mobility and climate change, policy and data gaps in the city of Accra and the development of a gender-sensitive tailored capacity strengthening training for municipal policymakers and practitioners (Output 1.1); the implementation of a gender-sensitive pilot project including migrants and related to climate change impacts in Accra (Output 1.2); and, in coordination with the similar project in RO Nairobi, the conducting of a cross-regional learning workshop in Addis Ababa, which will enhance experience sharing with other countries (Output 2.1).
