The Regional Clearing Point (RCP) serves as a clearinghouse for trafficking data drawn from a range of regional sources, including victims, service providers, counter-trafficking organisations and governments. This data is annually compiled into a report including statistics about assisted trafficking victims in the region as well as victim profiles, trafficking experiences and assistance needs. The aim of the RCP’s documentation is to provide factual data on trafficking victims that will form the basis for sound and informed counter-trafficking policy and practice.
The project co-funded by the 1035 Facility has aimed to assist the RCP to achieve the following:
- Through liaison with regional partners, to compile and publish concrete and verifiable data on trafficking in south eastern Europe, to be used as the basis of counter-trafficking programmes and policies;
- To identify gaps in our understanding of the trafficking phenomenon, with particular attention to victim vulnerability, experiences, needs and services;
- To increase the capacity and effectiveness for victim assistance and protection in the region by furthering the understanding of the trafficking phenomenon and good practices;
- To encourage, facilitate and support the use of standardised documentation tools by service providers with their clients;
- To serve as a source of data and information for practitioners and policy makers in the region to assist in the implementation of counter-trafficking initiatives; and,
- To assure relevant information exchange between a range of regional stakeholders.
