Handbook Provides Guidance on Return and Reintegration Information to Migrants
The IOM office in Brussels is this week launching week a practical
guide on programme implementation and information dissemination for
assisted voluntary return and reintegration, for governments, civil
society institutions and migrant assistance groups worldwide.
The handbook outlines key elements and good practices in
providing information on return and reintegration programmes, such
as the provision of country fact sheets, inclusion of questions
frequently asked by migrants, and tools for effective migrant
outreach.
"This practical manual aims to help other institutions around
the world to set up information provision approaches," says Pascal
Reyntjens, IOM's Programme Coordinator in Brussels. "It includes a
checklist on the key concepts for easy reference."
The development of the good practices guide and its widespread
dissemination is the joint effort of 9 IOM missions in Europe and
in 20 countries in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa and
Eastern Europe.
The publication is the final product of the "Enhanced and
Integrated Approach Regarding Information on Return and
Reintegration in Countries of Origin", or Irrico II project, funded
by the European Commission (EC), Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland
and Malta.
The handbook will be available as of 22 April at

representatives of the European Commission and to the IOM offices
taking part in the Irrico II project.
