The side-event “Regional Dimensions in the GCM Implementation, Follow-up and Review” was organized by the UAE Ministry of Labour and Emiratization, IOM, International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC) on 9 December 2018 in Marrakesh.
The side-event aimed to reflect on regional cooperation to support Member States in the GCM implementation, follow-up and review and the respective roles therein of relevant regional actors, with particular consideration given ISCMs – i.e. regional consultative processes on migration (RCPs), interregional forums on migration (IRFs) and global processes on migration.
IOM Director General and the Special Representative of the Secretary General for International Migration spoke at the event. Chairs of ISCM (MIDWA, RCM, Bali Process, SACM, GFMD) as well as the ADD Secretariat presented at the side-event. Civil society and private sector perspectives were also brought in.
