Benefiting Member States
Turkmenistan
The contribution has funded an assessment and planning exercise to guide subsequent technical cooperation actions under the Capacity-Building in Migration Management programme (CBMMP) in Turkmenistan.
An external consultant was contracted to review the policy, legislative and selected operational features of the migration system, and recommend a prioritized CBMMP work plan for Tajikistan. To date, the CBMMP in Turkmenistan had not benefited from such an assessment exercise, which has been an important aspect of the CBMMP actions in the IOM EE/CA Missions with more advanced technical cooperation programmes.
With in increased emphasis on the importance of Central Asia in regional migration management, the assessment was seen as timely.
