Niger
As a result of the ‘travel documents assessment’ in 2005, various complex and essential tasks were highlighted which will require further technical assistance to be provided to Niger during 2006. The Government of Niger has requested this support in a recent communication to IOM as an enhancement of the current 1035 funded initiative. The proposed additional provision of technical expertise (on and off site) includes additional services by expert consultants to advise the Government of Niger on the upgrade of its travel documents, while assisting in the implementation thereof. The following activities will be pursued:
· The updating of the programme of requirements for the passport contract;
· The definition of a programme of requirement for the ID system for Government of Niger approval; and,
· The drafting of a comprehensive and Niger tailored tender for the defined ID system, which will be submitted to the Government of Niger for implementation.
