Zimbabwe
In recent times, the scale and nature of migration and mobility to and from Zimbabwe have undergone a transformative shift. Significant numbers of Zimbabweans living abroad face difficulties including xenophobic treatment by host communities and job loss, frequently necessitating migrants to return to Zimbabwe as they lose the means to survive overseas.
In light of the above, the objective of the project is to contribute to the sustainable return and reintegration of Zimbabwean returnees and maximise their contribution to the development of Zimbabwe.
The project will support the Government of Zimbabwe to adopt an integrated, gender-sensitive, whole-of- government and whole-of-society approach to return and reintegration that enhances the social protection of returning migrants (Outcome 1). This will be achieved by assessing gaps in the current social protection framework (Output 1.1), strengthening the capacities of stakeholders on well-managed return and reintegration of migrants (Output 1.2) and developing a return and reintegration strategy (Output 1.3).
