The project proposes to:
• promote an improved level of understanding and utilization of investment options among migrant workers and their families towards a more development-oriented use of remittances;
• provide capacity building and support to the government and civil society organizations for the implementation of sustainable remittance and development-related projects.
• document the experience and lessons learned from the implementation of pilot projects on mainstreaming remittances into the development discourse, providing advocacy and an information campaign as well as capacity building for trainers and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) family circles.
This project falls within and provides co-funding to an ongoing larger project that seeks to promote legal migration and enhance regional dialogue and cooperation in facilitating managed migration from Asia to the EU. This project is entitled “Improving Knowledge of Remittance Corridors and Enhancing Development through Inter-Regional Dialogue and Pilot Projects in Southeast Asia and Europe (Special Focus on the Philippines and Indonesia)” funded by the European Commission under the Aeneas budget line.
