Benefiting Member States
Cambodia Viet Nam
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Governments of Cambodia and Viet Nam imposed border closures and mobility restrictions. As a result, the economies in border areas between Viet Nam and Cambodia have been severely disrupted, with a significant impact on border communities, small-scale cross-border traders, as well as daily and seasonal migrants who earn a living through cross-border economic activities. The overall objective of the project is to support the Governments of Cambodia and Viet Nam to enhance the formulation and implementation of evidence-based policies and programmes in the context of cross-border mobility. The project will develop capacities of the government officials to regularly collect, update and analyse comprehensive data to inform the planning, coordination and implementation of national policy and programming on migration and human mobility. The project objective will be achieved through the realization of two interlinked and interdependent project outcomes: i) Information and data analysis will be regularly utilized to inform migration policy decisions and programme design; and ii) Interagency and cross-order cooperation will be strengthened through bilateral exchange on relevant policy information and harmonization of procedures for reopening borders between the two countries.
