The objective of this project is to contribute to enhanced climate resilience of rural communities, including displaced persons, in Northern Benin through strengthened environmental sustainability.
The project will seek to do so by encouraging national and local authorities to facilitate the adoption of climate change adaptation strategies and sustainable livelihoods by agropastoral communities in the northern regions of Benin (Outcome 1). To initiate this process, the knowledge and capacities of national and local authorities will first be enhanced to support the adoption of gender-sensitive climate adaptive solutions and techniques by farmers and herders (Output 1.1). As a next step, the livelihoods of agropastoral communities, especially youth, women and displaced persons, to promote climate adaptive solutions will be diversified through the pilot of an innovative technique to produce livestock feed while protecting the vegetation cover (Output 1.2).
