The project seeks to achieve the following three specific objectives: (i) the development of a migration policy document and a draft of a Migration Law which will be produced by relevant bodies and validated by a working group; (ii) the carrying out of an assessment to identify areas that require modernization of migration management and administration. This will include a field evaluation of the information systems, infrastructures and personnel at the border posts; (iii) capacity building of staff involved in migration management (learning and development needs as identified during the assessment).
Lastly, the project will ensure that gender mainstreaming is reflected in the drafting of immigration policy as well as the trainings aimed to protect human rights and identify possible victims of trafficking.
