Benefiting Member States
Azerbaijan
Building a functional, effective and integrated system of migration-related statistics and data management in Azerbaijan is a precondition for the full implementation of the national migration management strategy. This requires the further enhancement of cooperation and coordination mechanisms (in collecting, storing and sharing of data) among relevant State agencies, as well as functioning of a comprehensive, up-to-date statistics system and last but not least skilled and trained staff. This project was developed: (i) in line with State programmes concerning statistics and migration management; (ii) in light of recent IOM Assessment Mission Report findings and recommendations; and (iii) to support the Government of Azerbaijan in its efforts in implementing the EU/Azerbaijan (ENP) Action Plan. IOM shall achieve this by undertaking a 12-month project in close cooperation with the UNFPA Azerbaijan, State Statistical Committee and other relevant State agencies. The successful implementation of the project will further contribute to the efforts of the Government of Azerbaijan in basing its decisions on migration policy and legislative development vis-à-vis the established up-to-date, reliable, pertinent data collection, storage, sharing and analysis mechanism.
