Benefiting Member States
Saint Lucia
In recent years, St. Lucia has faced unprecedented demographic challenges due to three main factors: decreased immigration rates, increased emigration rates and a decline in fertility rates. In the absence of a dedicated national migration policy, the resulting declining demographics pose major challenges to St. Lucia’s development plans, as well as to the achievement of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda. This project aims to contribute to strengthening the migration regulatory and legal frameworks in St. Lucia and promoting good migration governance.
To achieve the project objective, under Outcome 1, government officials and key stakeholders in St. Lucia will have improved understanding on the principles of migration governance and its contribution to the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda (Output 1.1); moreover, IOM will support the development of a draft gender-sensitive National Migration Policy for Saint Lucia and the sharing of lessons learned and best practices with the OECS and CARICOM region (Output 1.2).
