The project aims to assist the Government of Mexico in the implementation of its migration policy in the southern border through the preparation of a project document on the strengthening of border management, and through the initiation of an enhanced training programme. The expected outcomes are as follows:
1. A project document on strengthening border management in the states of Chiapas and Tabasco, including improvement or establishment of border control posts and other migration facilities, remodelling of the migration station in Tabasco and requirements in terms of equipment and installation, IT and personnel. This document will be used to attract donor funding by IOM and the Government of Mexico in order to implement the project.
2. A comprehensive training programme for migration personnel in the border states of Chiapas, Tabasco and Quintana Roo.
3. A pilot migration event for trainers from INM Training Center plus selected personnel from the states of Chiapas, Tabasco and Quintana Roo.
