The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the physical capacities, techniques and technologies of the Migration Division (the section responsible for passports and consulates) of the DGME San José, the border posts of Peñas Blancas and Paso Canoas and the Costa Rican consulates in Madrid and Managua. The aim is to diminish the alteration, falsification and duplication of travel documents.
To achieve the above, the project will include the following activities: an assessment of the current system and processes of travel document issuance employed by DGME Costa Rica; the adaptation and improvement of the existing infrastructure; training activities on migration management for the staff of Costa Rican Consulates in Managua and Madrid and at the border posts of Peñas Blancas (Nicaragua) and Paso Canoas (Panama).
