To address the challenge of the spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) to neighbouring countries, IOM proposes to implement a series of coordinated activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of governmental and non-governmental organizations to conduct effective outreach activities and raise awareness on the EVD in three selected countries in West Africa. The project targets primarily local authorities and community-based organisations/civil society in Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Senegal but secondary beneficiaries also include vulnerable communities and populations in affected and border areas, including migrants, cross-border workers and host communities.
Activities envisioned under this project include: identification of hard to reach population; to produce IEC material, capacity building of selected border officials, community health workers (CHWs) and health facility staff on screening and identification of EVD and prevention of transmission including Behavioural Change Communication (BCC) techniques; provision of key EVD messages and support to CHWs in conducting outreach activities in target areas.
