Eswatini
This project aims to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Eswatini to strengthen the capacity of the government to engage with its diaspora for social and economic development. The project will help the government use new tools and mechanisms in line with international standards and best practices to engage with its diaspora and facilitate their participation in the social and economic development of the country. A diaspora skills mapping exercise will be undertaken that will help the government understand the Emaswati diaspora and gauge their interest and willingness to support the development of their country of origin. In addition, a diaspora unit will be established within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation that will coordinate all diaspora affairs. An online diaspora engagement platform (official website, Facebook page and a WhatsApp group) will also be created for dissemination of information about national development to the diaspora, as well as legislative and consular procedures, job postings and investment opportunities. A diaspora forum will also be organised and an Emaswati Diaspora Network will be created to maintain regular communication among themselves and the government.
