The Government of Pakistan (GoP) acknowledges the importance of strengthening adaptation to climate change impacts and recognizes the need to include human mobility concerns into climate change planning. IOM previously supported the GoP in including human mobility considerations into its National Adaptation Plan (NAP). However, knowledge and funding gaps as well as the need for a comprehensive communications strategy on NAP and climate-related human mobility present challenges for effective implementation of the NAP.
This project aims to contribute to the Government of Pakistan's efforts to tackle the impacts of climate change by strengthening its ability to implement adaptation plans that address and manage human mobility. It will do this by supporting the GoP to develop and foster solutions to enhance climate change adaptation and resilience and promote NAP implementation, with a focus on human mobility (Outcome). This is to be achieved through enhancing capacities to share messages on NAP implementation & strengthening effective climate communication (Output 1.1), developing a draft climate communication strategy (Output 1.2), supporting the Government to launch a Climate Mobility Innovation Challenge (Output 1.3) and the provision of technical support for enhancing their capacities in identifying and accessing the climate finance options (Output 1.4).
