Belarus
In recent years, Belarus has witnessed an increase in migration due to geopolitical issues in the region. With the adoption of Belarus's first 2024-2028 Migration Policy Concept, the proposed intervention takes place at an opportune time to support the government in addressing the challenges as a result of the recent influx.
The proposed project aims to contribute to a sustainable and effective border governance system in Belarus that respects and protects the rights of migrants and ensures their safety and security in line with international standards (Objective). To contribute to this objective, the scope of the proposed intervention includes two components: (1) ensuring increased institutional and technical capacity of the State Border Committee (SBC) to facilitate an effective and comprehensive response to increased migration at borders through a series of training events, a study visit and the procurement of specialized equipment (Output 1.1); (2) fostering effective interagency coordination between SBC and relevant state and non-state actors through the development of an internal regulatory document to steer inter-agency cooperation in responding to increased migration at borders, including the effective referral of migrants in vulnerable situations (Output 1.2).
