This project aims to contribute to strengthening the capacity of the Sub-Secretariat for Social Promotion (SPS) of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires in areas related to migration. The project will generate new information on the sociocultural and demographic characteristics of the migrant population in the City of Buenos Aires, as well as their access to social services. In addition, the project aims to build capacity among relevant governmental counterparts in terms of their ability to identify situations of vulnerability linked to migration; their knowledge of the relevant legal and political framework, institutional resources, and the operational procedures for referral and support of vulnerable migrants; and to carry out an evaluation. The project includes the following components: 1) Research on the sociocultural and demographic characteristics of the migrant population in Buenos Aires and their access to social services; 2) Capacity building of relevant actors on migration and human rights through a training of trainers methodology; and 3) An information campaign on the human rights of migrants. All of these components will contribute to ongoing programs of the SPS in Buenos Aires, and with strengthen the existing social protection network.
