Mauritius
Over the past years, the Government of Mauritius (GoM) has shown a growing interest in engaging its dispersed diaspora communities, notably through the setting-up of a diaspora scheme in 2014, and the recognition of the diasporas as strategic partners for development. The youth Mauritian diaspora volunteering project will contribute to an effective contribution of the Mauritian diaspora, especially the youth, to participate in the development of Mauritius and strengthen their cultural ties with their country of origin. This pilot project will also contribute to the valorization of the diaspora and the creation of new initiatives, through social and knowledge exchanges between the youth diaspora and the local population in Mauritius.
