Further to a government request, this project will set up preliminary actions in the area of migration management so as to support the government’s reflection and actions in regards to building capacity for enhanced migration management. These actions will include an assessment of the political, legal and administrative framework for migration management in Guinea, with provision of short, medium and long term recommendations. Assessments of the airport in Conakry as well as provision of updated procedures and equipment for border management will be provided with a view to automate exit and entry data collection and analysis.
Based on the outcomes of this project, a larger Capacity Building for Migration Management Programme will be developed for joint fund raising and implementation between the Government of Guinea and IOM.
