Climate change poses significant challenges to North Macedonia, impacting its ecosystems, agriculture, and water resources. To support adaptation to the changing climate, the Government of North Macedonia is leading the development of North Macedonia’s first National Adaptation Plan. Migration, in its different forms, will be shaped by these climate impacts. The national planning and communication initiatives need to recognize the different forms of migration in the context of climate change and their diverse outcomes. The project aims to support the Government of North Macedonia’s Strategic Vision on Climate Change (Objective) by ensuring that migration considerations are mainstreamed into the National Adaptation Plan (Outcome) through three outputs. First, the project aims to enhance the capacities of national stakeholders in North Macedonia on the migration, environment, and climate change nexus (Output 1.1). Second, it aims to ensure government stakeholders have gender-sensitive tools and coordination mechanisms to mainstream the migration, environment, and climate change nexus, including its interlinkages with gender issues into the NAP (Output 1.2). Lastly, it aims to improve the visibility of the migration, environment, and climate change nexus among national stakeholders and the public, to generate sustainable public support on the issue (Output 1.3).
