Benefiting Member States
Belarus
The objective of the project is to contribute to leveraging migration and labour mobility impacts for socio-economic development in Belarus, through working closely with the Department on Citizenship and Migration (DCM) under the Ministry of Interior as well as other relevant government agencies. With a view to addressing negative drivers of migration and creating an enabling environment for socio-economic development, the scope of the proposed project will include an assessment on labour migration, gender and economic development strategies in Belarus. It will also include sensitizing government officials of the DCM, its regional bodies, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection (MLSP) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on benefits of labour mobility and remittances as well as protection of migrant workers and capacity building activities to effectively support the state-run hotline for labour migrants. Lastly the project will include conducting a national awareness-raising campaign focusing on positive impacts of labour mobility and protection of migrant workers.
