Recognizing distinct job roles and skill demands in overseas markets, the Government of India emphasizes the need for real-time, customized information for potential migrants. The proposed project responds to the recognized need by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to institutionalize E-Migrant Resource Centres (E-MRCs) at the national level. This strategic move stems from the need to bring together accurate information related to the migration of students and skilled professionals on a credible platform while recognizing that effective application of IT and telecommunication can also enhance MRCs' outreach and efficiency by facilitating online information dissemination, streamlined data management, and virtual assistance.
On this front, to bolster the ongoing efforts of the MEA, this project aims to contribute to the Government of India and GCM priorities to promote safe, orderly and regular migration, through the availability of critical information to enhance the protection and welfare of Indian students and migrants. To do this, comprehensive training material will be developed (Output 1.1), an E-MRC platform will be established (Output 1.2). A communication strategy for the E-MRC will be developed (Output 1.3) and finally, capacity development initiatives will ensure the Government is able to operate, sustain and scale up the E-MRC initiative (Output 1.4).
