This proposed project is a collaborative project between the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) of Thailand. It aims to improve access to primary health care services needed by migrants and displaced persons in 7 priority districts of Tak and Chiangrai provinces. The project will also facilitate collaboration between government/non-government and health/non-health agencies as well as employers of migrants working in the same provinces to enable an effective multi-sectoral approach, which is essential for the control of communicable diseases outbreaks. The networks of trained and qualified migrant Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) that have already been established by IOM-MOPH will play a key role in providing active health services as well as in linking the migrants with the existing Thai public health system.
