This project aims to strengthen the capacity of the Department for Foreigners of Turkey to manage irregular migration in a manner consistent with international standards through facilitated discussions and negotiations with selected countries of origin. The project will: • Support the organization and holding of a meeting between Turkish and Somali officials in Ankara to discuss the Somali migration to Turkey. • Facilitate discussions on management of irregular Somali migration and approaches to counter it. • Provide humanitarian assistance to an accommodation/reception centre serving Somali migrants. • Consolidate information on Somali migrant patterns and migration management responses in European countries to inform Government of Turkey’s responses.
