The objective of the project is to contribute to the socioeconomic integration of migrants, mainly coming from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, in the host communities of Mexico, by promoting cultural, academic and commercial exchanges between the cities of origin and the host cities in Mexico. The establishment of such a type of broad-based partnership, also known as “sister cities”, aims to strengthen the social cohesion between receiving communities and communities of origin, combat discrimination, encourage respect for human rights regardless of one’s nationality and hence, facilitate the overall integration of migrants in their new environments. This project contributes to the implementation of the El Salvador-Guatemala-Honduras-Mexico Comprehensive Development Program.
