The Government of Thailand (GoT) has made notable strides towards addressing trafficking in persons (TIP), including through the development of a five-year Plan of Action from 2023-2027. This project aims to support the GoT to enhance coherence of legislation and approaches to provision of protection (Outcome 1) and to assist provincial protection actors to provide services to victims of trafficking in line with national and international strategies (Outcome 2).
This will be achieved by initiating the process of updating the Anti-Human Trafficking Act (Output 1.1) and sensitizing stakeholders on the Plan of Action to advance implementation and monitor progress (Output 1.2). Then, the project will support the development of provincial plans of action, in line with the national Plan of Action (Output 2.1), strengthen cooperation frameworks between government and non-government partners at the provincial level (Output 2.2) and provide training to non-government partners to enable them to provide protection services in line with national and international guidelines (Output 2.3). In doing so, this project aims to contribute to protecting and upholding the rights of migrants in vulnerable situations in Thailand by supporting the Government to implement its five-year Plan of Action on Anti-Human Trafficking.
