This project aims to address the adverse effects of natural disasters using an integrated approach that combines disaster risk reduction (DRR) and health promotion for disease prevention and response. As such, this project will facilitate capacity building by working closely with local authorities and community leaders on designing response to prevention of disasters and climate change events. The project will also collaborate and implement successful DRR activities to prevent flooding in a manner that can be replicated in other areas of the country. In addition the project will provide capacity strengthening activities and training of local authorities and community leaders to develop the sense of responsibilities toward DRR risk connected to public health and provision of material at health centers, in close conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the health district to ensure ownership and sustainability and conduct action research to ensure sustainability and dissemination of lessons learned throughout the country.
