The overall objective of this initiative is to strengthen migration management through an upgrade of the current Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) in Belize. Particularly, this initiative aims at building and strengthening the capacity of Belize’s Department of Immigration and Nationality Services (DINS) and its staff to manage the borders more efficiently.
The Government of Belize is aware of the vulnerabilities to the current border management system, due to the increased traffic flows at the international airport and at the northern and western land borders. For that reason, the Government requests to take proactive steps to protect the integrity of the MIDAS.
Each of the activities will be accompanied by a training session with Immigration officials to ensure they have the knowledge and expertise to use the upgraded features in the MIDAS.
