The project will contribute to a comprehensive understanding on migrant and gender-specific barriers to access tuberculosis (TB) medical care and promote the formulation and implementation of evidence-based and gender-sensitive migrant health policies in Moldova. It aims to improve TB detection, surveillance, treatment and prevention through research and data collection through the development of a migration module in the existing information monitoring and evaluation system of TB patients (SIME TB) and a qualitative study on gendered health care seeking behaviour and access to TB treatment. Moreover, the project will raise awareness and build the capacity of government officials and health workers through an interregional workshop and gender-sensitive training on TB control and care among migrants. Moreover, the project will support a national information campaign on access to TB treatment for circular migrants. Community-based programmes such as workshops and peer support groups led by TB survivors and caretakers will further promote knowledge exchange on TB prevention and treatment.
