The objective of the project is to contribute to strengthened whole-of-government responses to prevent trafficking, protect victims and prosecute offenders through partnership efforts in the Republic of Mauritius.
To do so, the project endeavours to reinforce the integrated approach to identify, refer and protect victims of trafficking in persons and to prosecute offenders (Outcome 1), following a three-pronged approach. First, the project will set up an inclusive whole-of-government technical coordination mechanism to regularly monitor the identification, investigation and management of cases of trafficking in persons and to steer the implementation of the national action plan on counter-trafficking (Output 1.1). Second, the project will strengthen the capacities of key stakeholders through a training plan with particular emphasis on the identification, referral and management of TIP cases and prosecution of perpetrators (Output 1.2). Third, the project will strengthen gender-sensitive and victim-centred approaches to assistance used by key stakeholders, namely the Government, private sector and civil society organizations (Output 1.3).
