Benefiting Member States
Georgia
Environmental migration is already a reality in Georgia and has serious implications for the human rights, dignity, and well-being of the affected people, as well as for the social, economic, and environmental development of the country. This project aims to contribute to addressing the migration, environment and climate change (MECC) nexus in Georgia (Objective) by introducing related policies and best practices, enhancing the evidence base and mainstreaming the nexus into migration policy.
To achieve this Objective, the project will provide support to enable the Government of Georgia to take steps to mainstream the MECC nexus into the Migration Strategy of Georgia (Outcome). To do this, the project will provide capacity development support on the MECC nexus (Output 1.1), support the collection and analysis of data and evidence on the MECC nexus (Output 1.2), and develop and disseminate good practices and policy recommendations for mainstreaming the MECC nexus (Output 1.3). The project will be implemented in close coordination and partnership with national and local authorities, civil society organizations, academia, private sector, media, and international organizations as relevant.
