Benefiting Member States
Cameroon
There is a growing recognition by the Government of Cameroon of the significant role Cameroonians abroad play in the nation's development, however, a national strategy for diaspora engagement has yet to be established.
The objective of this project is to contribute to the strategic engagement of the Cameroonian diaspora for the sustainable and inclusive socio-economic development of Cameroon. The project will contribute towards this objective by supporting the Government of Cameroon to adopt a gender-sensitive diaspora engagement strategy, accompanied by an action plan (Outcome 1). The project will promote collaboration between the Ministry of External Relations (MINREX) and other relevant stakeholders to oversee the development of a national diaspora engagement strategy (Output 1.1) and strengthen the MINREX's capacity on diaspora mapping and engagement strategies (Output 1.2). A mapping of the Cameroonian diaspora will be carried out (Output 1.3) to inform the development and validation of a national engagement strategy for the Cameroonian diaspora and action plan (Output 1.4 and Output 1.5).
