Benefiting Member States
Jamaica
In line with the country's National Policy and Plan of Action on International Migration and Development, this project aims to conduct a gender-sensitive feasibility study to create a practical model to channel diaspora resources into Jamaica's national development, followed by the development of a Jamaican Diaspora Engagement Model for National Development Framework (hereinafter referred to as JAM-DEM). The JAM-DEM framework would seek to facilitate the channeling of human and financial resources towards various sectors including housing, education, health, security and small and medium enterprises. The project's main goal will be achieved through creating a steering committee to guide project implementation. Project activities will also include focus group discussions with key government stakeholders and private sector institutions, consultations with the diaspora, and workshops to disseminate the feasibility report and present the JAM-DEM framework.
