Panama has made significant progress in adapting national legislation against human trafficking, but there are still obstacles for an effective implementation. Consequently, this project aims to contribute to the efforts of the Panamanian Government in the development and implementation of a comprehensive response against trafficking in persons, aimed at supporting its prevention, protection of victims and prosecution of traffickers. The project aims to contribute to the dissemination of the new legislation, its objectives and the responsibilities assigned to the different institutions.
The implementation strategy includes a series of actions ranging from support and advice to implement the new national legislation, to the carrying out of activities aimed at training personnel in key institutions. The project also aims to facilitate a coordinated participation between the institutions that are responsible for implementing the public policies and the integrated programs. Finally, the project will include an awareness campaign on the victim’s situation and rights.
