IOM aims to assist the Government of Kazakzstan and Kyrgyzstan to build their capacity to improve the management of labour migration at the national and regional (bilateral) levels. This initiative will complement and reinforce the DFID funded project to build the capacity of the two respective government s and relevant agencies in the field of labour migration. The key elements of this project are to:
•Build the capacity of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Migration (MOLEM, previously known as the State Committee for Migration and Employment – SCME) in Kyrgyzstan and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population in Kazakhstan;
•Raise awareness about the need to regulate the labour migration processes between the two countries;
•Promote regional and bilateral dialogues to improve labour migration management in the region on the policy and implementation level.
