This project aims to build the capacity of the Government of Guinea and inform policy-makers on the migration, environment and climate change nexus, in view of mitigating the root causes of forced displacement and plan tailored interventions to strengthen the communities’ resilience to climate change.
To achieve this objective, the following outputs will be delivered:
1) Improved knowledge and capacities among the national and local authorities with regards to migration and climate change. A baseline study will be developed analysing the migration, environment and climate change nexus in the communities most affected in Guinea, and a set of recommendations will be proposed. In line with the study, capacity-building workshops will be conducted, targeting policymakers and local authorities, ensuring coherence between national and regional strategies. This will allow the government to adopt specific measures to provide livelihood solutions to vulnerable communities and improve their resilience in the long term;
2) Increased understanding and awareness on the above-mentioned topic among the most vulnerable communities. These activities will include target youth and women in particular and aim to create a change in behaviour from the communities.
