This research assessment will provide the Government of Jordan with an overview of the situation of the trafficking in persons in Jordan to enable it to better assist victims and develop appropriate prevention strategies. To this end, it will detail the routes and methods used by traffickers, create a profile of the victims, and conduct an assessment of the assistance that is currently available to them in the region.
A variety of sources will be used to gather data from including government, law enforcement agencies, embassies, local and international migration experts, national research institutes, and relevant NGOs. The research will enable IOM to make a positive contribution to the existing body of knowledge on human trafficking in Jordan, and lay the foundation for the development of further counter-trafficking activities.
Research results will be presented during a national workshop where future steps will be discussed and planned.
