Youth Key to Sustainable Post-Conflict Recovery
An international meeting bringing together experts in the fields of
psychosocial assistance, post conflict reconstruction and recovery
and students from all parts of the world opens Monday, 10 December
at the International Conference Centre in Geneva.
The conference, entitled “Healing the War”, will
look at ways of empowering young people to ensure they can play a
key role in post-conflict recovery and in peace consolidation
activities.
Some 20 students from all parts of the world will take part in
discussions with experts, including Nomfundo Walaza of the Desmond
Tutu Peace Centre in South Africa, Snezana Samardzic Markovic,
Minister of Youth and Sports of the Government of Serbia and
Richard Newfarmer from the World Bank.
“Healing the War” is an initiative of IOM’s
Psychosocial and Cultural Integration Unit and of the Geneva-based
Fondation Moncalme and is supported by the Italian Development
Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
