“What is the Price of a Human Being?”: IOM Helsinki Campaign
Finland - IOM Helsinki has launched a new counter trafficking public information campaign: “What is the price of a human being?”
Human trafficking in Finland includes labour exploitation and sexual abuse. Reported victims have been both Finnish and foreign nationals.
“The campaign aims to educate the citizens, especially youth about human trafficking and to inform people about responsible consumerism to reduce demand. Raising awareness is key to identify victims,” said IOM Helsinki campaign coordinator Tuija von der Pütten.
The campaign was developed as a public-private partnership, in cooperation with the Ressu Upper Secondary school in Helsinki and the Valve marketing agency. The campaign video was produced by Kennel Helsinki, based on the students’ concept and script.
The campaign plans to find innovative ways to engage with the general public and will spread its message online and through social media. Private sector and media partners are offering their skills, expertise and advertising space on a pro bono basis.
The campaign was launched on 14th April. It includes a video to be shared online, a campaign website, a radio commercial and online and print advertisements. It will also be featured at the World Village Festival in Helsinki at the end of May.
